WENT UP, AN ORGANIZATION SUPPORTING EDUCATION INTERNET SITE VISIT RECORD _____________________________________________________________________ your five. SITE VISIST REPORT – JUNE 2009 June 21, 2009 – Friday: almost eight: 00 WAS – 13: 00 Members: Janaki Raman R (ROSE volunteer), Muthuram (Project Executor), Poornima (Janaki Raman's sister) We stayed in the Siragu school although public transport of EMU trains via Perambur, chennai to Avadi Military house station (30 minutes), and then. auto drive to siragu school pertaining to 15 minutes (4 – your five kms, Rs. 50 for auto). Mr. Muthuram signed up with us enroute and got us for the school. All of us reached the college around almost eight: 45 hours.

Location:

The positioning of the college is tiny remote from Avadi military siding stop. The gain access to roads towards the school are well layed and can be commuted by two/three/four wheelers. The school can be little remote surrounded by barn/bushes in 3 sides. The perimeter in the school is usually surrounded by very well erected compund wall plus the ground level is usually raised to deal with the water stagnation. Still, the access to the college during the stormy season might be a hard task and water stagnation during heavy down pours could be predicted.

School transfer:

As we attained the school at 8: 45 hours, the school van was buzzing with kids. Together we could see autos (three-wheeled taxis), ferrying school children from neighbouring neighborhoods. Both because of the remote precise location of the school and motivate the less priveleged children, the school employs a couple of school vehicles to ferry children via nearby areas. Public transfer to the university seems nonexistent. Majority of college van users seem to spend a nominal van charges, which is standard revenue for the school.

During our check out, one of the second hand school van was cracked and there was severe over load on the only one truck. To cope with the transport issue, the school was employing automobiles to ferry the children. Additionally , the solitary school van was undertaking multiple journeys to the institution dropping one particular batch after the other. By the time we were there, the van was departing for third round of waking time. Mr. Muthuram detailed about the transport being a serious problem, because in the event not for the transport a large number of kids via remote areas, might not take those extra stage to attend the college regularly. Lately, there apparently have been a serious foriegn money (~ 6th lakhs coming from NL), for buying a new car for the school. Partial institution funding along with significant contributions via external money, ‘swaraj mazda van' have been bought by the school, the two to use them for
